Frame and Panel

I have the frame and panel glued together for my breakfast tray and it went together nicely. This is my first piece with a bridle joint and I was a little worried that it would be tricky to get everything together perfectly, but it was a breeze.  I pre-finished the panel because it helps to prevent the panel, which is floating in the grooves, from sticking to the frame and it also makes finishing easier in general.

The panel was re-sawn so that the left and right sides are book-matched. The grain isn’t the most exciting, so the book-matched effect isn’t very obvious, but the color should be a perfect match.

That book matched grain actually looks pretty cool.
That Bridle joint is going to make it look sharp.
